Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Sultan Al Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, to discuss ways to strengthen aspects and areas of joint cooperation between Egypt and the UAE in various sectors.
At the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister said the working teams from the two countries were focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of industry, energy, power and investment.
Madbouly said that the deputy prime minister for industrial development and his colleagues from relevant ministries oversaw meetings held on the matter and followed up with their Emirati counterparts.
The prime minister noted the outcomes of UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s recent visit to Egypt and his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Madbouly noted that these outcomes included emphasizing the importance of working to quickly implement agreed joint projects.
Meanwhile, Al Jaber stressed Al Nahyan’s special consideration for sisterly Egypt, saying: “Today we are here to follow up on what was discussed and considered in our last meeting, and to determine the next steps on our future agenda for the upcoming executive period.”
Al Jaber noted that industrial planning is very important and the allocation of land for industry in Egypt and the UAE is very significant, adding: “Currently, there are two important projects. The first is a project to manufacture solar panels, and the second is a battery project to store renewable energy.”
Al Jaber added: “We have partnerships with leading manufacturers and are open to exploring other projects together with the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development to contribute to Egypt’s industrial strategy.”
On the energy sector, Al Jaber added that the political leadership had instructions to complete 4 gigawatts within a year, and he reiterated his commitment to achieving that as well as developing several gas projects.
