Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing versatile 23-year-old Dutch midfielder Quinten Timber before the summer transfer window closes.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Quinten Timber is the player Liverpool are interested in. The Reds have compiled a list of three candidates to bolster their midfield before the summer transfer window closes, with the 23-year-old Feyenoord midfielder emerging as a target, with the Merseyside side hoping to reunite with Arne Slott.
Who is Quinten Timber?
Quinten Timber has established himself as one of his country’s best young midfielders since joining Feyenoord from FC Utrecht in July 2022. The Dutchman is the twin brother of Julian Timber and the two spent their formative years together at Feyenoord and Ajax, with Julian remaining at Ajax while Quinten parted ways with the club a few years ago.
The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength over the past two years, helping Feyenoord win the Eredivisie title in the 2022/23 season. Timber has made 78 appearances for Feyenoord to date, scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists.
Meanwhile, Quinten Timber’s performances at the Dutch club have attracted attention and he has attracted the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, especially the Premier League’s big clubs, who are keen to sign the Dutch international in the summer transfer window, with Liverpool being one of the favourites.
Will Timber reunite with Arne Slott at Liverpool?
Liverpool’s interest in Quinten Timber is understandable, as the club were keen to sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window after losing Thiago Alcantara as a free agent. The Spain international was not a regular for Liverpool last season but his departure leaves a void in the midfield department.
Timber has therefore emerged as a likely target for Liverpool, with the Merseyside outfit also exploring other options in the market – recent reports have also linked Manu Kone and Teun Coopemeiners with the option – but the chance of Arne Slott reuniting with Timber could be appealing.
It will be interesting to see if Timber becomes Liverpool’s top midfield target on the final day of the summer transfer window, but it may be tough for Arne Slott to convince Feyenoord to sell a key player at this stage in the transfer window.
