Nonsense. Everyone at the top was doping. Armstrong was leveling the playing field. This lady is delusional.
Biggest cheat in sporting history.
Shouldn't he be sent to prison for fraud?
Why should he be forgiven?
He lied, he cheated he sued and he bullied – then suddenly he is going to turn around and turn that 'special' personality of his into something even slightly honest?
No, he didn't. Before he cheated, he wasn't even a contender.
His CHEMISTS dominated.
And with the willing participation of the UCI, and massive funding, Lance was able to cheat far more effectively, and in far more advanced ways, than all of the other cheaters.
Armstrong himself wasn't any better than the other riders, his DOCTORS and CHEMISTS were better. Any questions?
Wow, you are THAT delusional, huh?
No expert or rider agrees with you, of course. But, you're going to hold that opinion anyway.
If you REALLY believe that it was an even playing field, you're either incredibly stupid, or incredibly uninformed. Lance's own teammates said it wasn't an even playing field.
The blanket statement "oh, they all could have access to the same dope" shows how little you know.
Why would you believe such a thing? On what evidence? Prior to EPO Armstrong was already on steroids, but never even finished in the top 50. Once the UCI had their golden boy with a heartwarming cancer survival story, willing to dope himself to the gills to win, they used him to propel the sport's popularity, let him get away with murder, and didn't always test his samples. They practically helped him cheat because his popularity made them money. Why do you think he'd win without that advantage?
bad bet
I don't think his doping caused his cancer. Because he doped again after the cancer and the didn't come back! Lance did what no one else in America could do at the time. Let him be, get on a bike yourself and see what it's like to suffer climbing 7000 ft
Delusional moronic statement of the day:
"Whoever wins is best because they won… what steroids they take is meaningless."
Are you serious? What's the problem with just letting everyone dope? Tell that to your kid who wants to cycle: "yeah, dad/mom, I want to get into cycling, but the only way on Earth I can ever compete in any way is to take 'roids and other drugs like crazy, which causes all kinds of long term medical problems, ok?"
Also, what's the freekin' point of having people compete at all when it's no longer about training and skill, but it's about who has the best chemists? Is that what you want to see?
because it would completely tarnish the sport. It would get out of hand, players would abuse it, more kids would get hooked on it, it would be unfair to the players that came before and the players that don't want to use that shit. It is not an even playing field because not everyone wants to use it. It's very bad for you. Sports would become a joke if all the players were using drugs. It's illegal and against the rules for a reason.
What a joke…the biggest fraud in world spots history. Cold and calculating – now he admitted to doping just because he got fingered by Floyd Landis. No remorse, no apology, either to the American public let alone to the rest of the planet. This man should be banned for life from any and every sports competition there is- professional or otherwise.
i ride a bike to commute ,for enjoyment and health .i ride a trek because they make good solid bikes i ride in snow and ice and on trails and love it .i have a good understanding of the relationship between bike and man. no duh he was doing something to enhance him self . who cares? screw him.every thing on t.v. is fake in some way. go ride your bikes . forget the jokers on the t.v. they dont care about you keep your money hero worship is a waste.
who cares? fuck lance.
He did what he needed to win, yes. That included keeping people quiet by suing anyone and everyone who spoke the truth, and ruining people's careers if they opposed Saint Armstrong. How about those two innocent housewives that Armstrong fraudulently sued for millions, draining them of every dime to their name, leaving them in financial ruins, all just to shut them up after they just innocently stumbled into being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and found out he was cheating. Scapegoat?
Well, then we agree on that topic. Hero worship of public personalities is ridiculous. Actors. Athletes. Musicians. Whatever. If you want to enjoy watching someone play a sport, or go to a concert, fine. But, to make a hero of someone?? Why? So, we agree on that.
But sorry, the blame still falls on Armstrong for what he did. He didn't just cheat. He cheated, then ruined your life if you said one word about it. I can't blame society for Armstrong's fraudulent lawsuits. They are unprededented.
You've made some valid points. However, it's not just Armstrong. Your culture creates heroes then tear them apart. It is because of the culture that he was able to get away with his behaviour for so long. Yes some objected but the majority supported him. The point is, people need to not take celebrity so seriously and start treating these people as the flawed human beings that they are so that when they fail, you're not so shocked.
No. Not EVERYONE in the public was so gullible (I never believed his crap, and neither did a lot of people). And, remember all of the journalists who Armstrong sued for hundreds of millions of dollars (and won) to shut them up? He did the same to anyone and everyone who had first hand evidence. He used mafia boss style tactics to perpetuate his crimes. How dare you suggest that the blame should be distributed?!? The man is a pig. The blame is on him.
This story is a testament of the sad state of human nature. He was able to fool everyone because he was idolized. He did it because he was materialistic and sought to be idolized. The public and the society as a whole are as much to blame as he is. So when is the adoring public going to own up to their responsibility?
Where are all his supporters now, and do they stiil make excuses for him. Sad sad sad. Duped by a sociopath.
plays the oprah card? wtf expression is that
ever wonder why Sheryl Crow divorced him? its probably because she found out he was a cheat. Right around the time when allegations started coming in
i would like to know what he was taking that could beat all the test they put on him
Lance is leader of pain for record indignant denials, record vindictive payback lawsuits, record bullying/corruption of other riders/family members, paying off doctors, using cancer and an entire Foundation as shield against exposure – causing long list of big and small money sponsors to look the other way, or, not to really wanna know.
yeah profiting by lying and cheating was bad, but I find the intimidation and bullying far more disturbing.
BIGGEST life/sports liar and cheater in hx. indeed, worse than Bernie Madoff's investment/money scandal. and, Lance is still tellin' half-truths, while doing the bare minimum, simply because he was so backed into a corner.
To say that Lance Armstrong is the equivalent of Bernie Madoff is absurd, and is belittling to Madoff's victims.
"A lie is just a great story that somebody ruined with the truth" – Barney S."
So yeah, If you accept the lie so use him as a model to train harder, because reaching the unreachable "Lance Armstrong" is your drives
if you go against it, taking him down doesn't make you win the Tour de France, wake up!
If you don't understanding anything what-so-ever, listen to his interview with open-minded or walk away!
Even on Oprah, when she asked about him suing that friend for telling the truth, he said he didn't remember suing her because he has so many of these things, sort of as if she's a nobody, he's a big shot, and also he obviously had no memory of any qualms about lying about her.
