The Los Angeles-based music company, which has worked on projects for Google, McDonald’s, Grey’s Anatomy and The Big Bang Theory, is setting up offices on Music Row.
Position Music will operate out of the building that originally housed Decca Records at 27 Music Square E.
The 0.17-acre property is owned by a trust that includes husband and wife Tyler and Leslie Bacon, and was purchased in January for $2.295 million (more details here).
Position Music was founded in 1999 and is headed by Tyler Bacon, and specializes in licensing and sync, marketing, A&R and artist management, according to its website. It has about 40 employees.
Position Music’s website states that its advertising clients include Jeep, Google, McDonald’s and Samsung. The company has produced trailers for “hundreds of major motion picture campaigns,” including Wonder Woman, The Hobbit, Transformers and King Arthur. Position’s television resume includes Grey’s Anatomy, Homeland, Billions, The Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces, America’s Got Talent, American Idol and Nashville. The company’s video game titles include appearances by EA, ESL and Microsoft.
Permits are being sought to carry out renovations to the building.
Relatedly, Position is seeking to hire a vice president of administration to serve as senior leader for the firm’s Burbank and Nashville offices.
The seller in the January transaction was Nashville real estate developer and investor David Creed, who purchased the property for $1.85 million in October 2021. The seller in that transaction was a limited liability company that included the brothers of Del Bryant, former president of BMI, and Dane Bryant, former musical director for the late Olivia Newton-John.
The Bacons could not be reached for comment on when the Nashville office will open or how many employees it will employ.
