Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says he has not received any approach from Manchester City for striker Kyogo Furuhashi and has not spoken to the striker about the “rumours”.
Recent reports suggest that the English champions are considering a replacement for Julian Alvarez, with the 29-year-old Japan international on their shortlist.
Kyogo, who has scored 51 goals since joining Glasgow in the summer of 2021, missed last weekend’s Scottish League Cup win over Hibernian with a recurring shoulder injury but is set to return against St Mirren on Sunday.
“Obviously, we just deal with it,” Rodgers said of media speculation, “but I’m not hearing anything from Manchester City. It’s obviously rumour and gossip.”
“I have not spoken to him directly about it. If I were to speak to all of our players about rumours and speculation, it would be around the clock.”
“It’s not of interest to me. My focus is on preparing the team for the game against Celtic at the weekend.”
“The most important thing for me is that he is now comfortable on the grass. The last few days of training have been great and he should be available at the weekend.”
