Directed by PS Vinotraj and bankrolled by Sivakarthikeyan, the film has received mixed responses from the audience, let’s have a look at some of them.
While many online users have praised the film and praised its innovative approach, not everyone has shared the same sentiment: One user on Twitter called the film a treat for movie buffs, while another found it extremely boring.
Other users praised the film, saying they found it very enjoyable. They noted that the cinematic experience may be affected by audience members who are less patient. One netizen expressed appreciation that the film did not use music, opting instead for entirely live audio.
The film has received critical acclaim for its striking visuals and mix of complex emotions and humour, as well as praise for Suri’s role in a role so different from his usual one.
Additionally, audiences have praised the performance of Anna Ben, who effectively embodies the stoic character with her nuanced performance despite only uttering one line in the entire film.
Let’s take a look at how netizens reacted to Koottukkaali on Twitter.
The film tells the story of a day in the life of a young girl named Meera, who falls in love with a lower-caste man and is accused by her family of being possessed by an evil spirit. Believing in this superstition, her family sets out on a dangerous journey around the village to get her to exorcise the evil spirit.
The film’s themes focus on aspects such as male chauvinism, patriarchy and superstition and is also said to have a slow-paced narration.
Talking about Soori’s work, the actor was last seen in the film ‘Galdaan’ and will soon be seen in Vetrimaaran’s sequel film ‘Viduthalai Part 2’. Meanwhile, Anna recently played a significant role in Prabhas’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, which is currently streaming on Netflix (Hindi dubbed) and Prime Video.
