Jordan Klepper sits down with TDS Supervising Producer, Ian Berger, to break down their experience traveling to Estonia for their latest special, ‘Jordan Klepper Fingers the Pulse: Moscow Tools.’ Klepper learns firsthand from the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, that the realities of Russian occupation are very different from what the average pro-Russia Republican might imagine when they say Putin is a great leader. #DailyShow #JordanKlepper #Podcast

Finland vs. Russia border: ca. 1300 kilometers (approx. 805 miles). – Just mentioning. Besides it would be nice to see Jordan Klepper doing a report in Finland, too!
from an estonian perspective, estonia has been safer than ever before.
We always knew that russia would attack. And for decades the west treated us like we are paranoid.
Now they finally take us seriously and Russia is stuck in Ukraine. There is finally hope for future
Why do most Americans think we only border 2 countries?
We border 3.
Mexico, Canada, & Russia.
Putin likes to collect former pieces of his beloved Russian Empire.
Alaska is our Crimea & Putin wants it back. That's why he wants Trump to pull us out of NATO.
If that all seems just as far away to you as Europe, you should look up how much of our Pacific North West & our Pacific coastline used to belong to the Russian Empire.
If you need a reason why we need to help Ukraine, other than we promised to in the Budapest Memorandum, its that we too are a Sovereign Nation on the border of Russia. The only difference is Russia didn't at one time rule our entire country.
I think this is such BS from the media about russia. West always needs some kind of enemy to fullfill its own pocket. Its not about democrocy, listen to John Mersheimer. USA has gotten rid of so many democrocys in the past its rediculous. Fear mongering at its best. There are alot worse people than Putin waiting in line so be careful what you wish for. Putins administration is actually not happy with Putin because he holds so much back on violence. Again west and its politics inside a vacuum!
Miles makes sense? And feets??? And Fahrenheits 😉
oh christ, I'm sorry u had to endure that famous estonian sense of humor lol.
I worked in Timisoara, Romania, for a spell in 2015. What an amazing country. Romania is rich with history, strong culture, and incredibly tough but kind people. It's the most memorable place I have traveled to.
Despite its beauty and freedoms, Romania struggles with political and economic corruption. However, these struggles don't even compare to what the country endured in the under the prior brutal, totalitarian communist regime.
The overthrow of that dictatorship occurred back in 1989, but it still seemed fresh in the minds of those who lived through it. One person who spoke with me about it described it as if it happened "yesterday." It wasn't something people liked to talk about, for reasons that are obvious to me now.
Trust me, America – don't f*ck with wannabe dictators and "strongmen"!
1:28 "But we use miles here. Rightfully, logically, use miles. It makes so much sense, it's not even worth spending any more time on. That's how much sense miles makes."
10:40 "Wow look at how misinformed we are. I think American gullibility is a real problem in this country and it's a threat that has global repercussions."
🤔🤔🤔
Baltic states 💪 Glad that you visited!
Never again is Estonia going to have a war on its territory1 Ever again. We are too ready. All of that idiot"s neighbours are more ready than ever..
As for the Russian speaking Estonians, or whatever I should call then, they definitely know about the difference in living standards, and they do not want Russia back in their lives. The things with Ukraine would not work the same way because the living standard is low in Ukraine In Estonia, life is a zillion times better than in Russia
Once again we see comedians aren't foreign policy experts, just US security state propagandists and puppets-just like the Estonian prime minister.
Congrats, Jordan. Quite the career achievement.
I remember a Finnish friend telling me last year how they bought a battery operated radio.
Just in case Russian troops cross the border and attack the electric grid and cell phone towers beforehand. It's scary.
Jordan, visit Lithuania 🇱🇹❤ love the Daily show 😍
I remember one estonian senior answering question about salary and pentions cuts about 30% high during financial crysis that Estonia suffert almost hardest in Europe like "we did survived soviets, this is only unplesent in compare". And that deserves respect.
A point on GPS jamming:
It's become routine in northern Norway, where Widerøe regularly has navigation disrupted when they get close to the Russian border
If u think about the history of war/occupation and the mass atrocities in these regions and trie to think that Europe still has strict gun laws.
That's why we don't understand why u guys don't fix it
Putin is not the aggressor NATO and Ukraine are!
Anytime you can go to a place and talk to those who have lived something you haven't, is a real win.
i’m Ukrainian and you can’t imagine how relieved i feel when i hear people from the west “get it”. history is not just recent for us – it’s happening in real time. i hope you keep up with this segment on russian influence and also get to travel to Ukraine and talk to people there. ps i have to see that Depeche Mode bar
Make a interview of "Destiny" aka Steven Bonnell!
The U.S. is at war with Russia. Why isn't every high-school draped in the Ukrainian flag? It's just the symbol?
Excellent segment. Thanks for the perspective and context.
As an Estonian… Our Portland would likely be Tartu.
But the depeche mode bar is very portlandia and postsoviet in a way.
I remember when The Daily Show used to just be a comedy show…this isn't funny, it's straight-up FRIGHTENING! 😮
Superb doc and was great to watch this follow-up. Having been to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, everything Jordan said is so true. They have their own languages, that Russia expended great efforts to wipe out. Citizens were thrown in soundproof cells, tortured, just for daring to speak in their mother tongue.
So I guess the big question is HOW to get through to people, mainly in in the US, but not exclusively? When so many are completely entrenched, and unwilling to listen to any other view, opinions, news, that doesn't come from their echo-chamber broadcasters.

Any Guesses as to when China invades the east coast of Russia because of how many Chinese speakers live in eastern Russia?
Muck files
logicaly use miles… i dont think that word means what u think it means
I feel more and more convinced that "investigative comedy" is the future of edutainment along the lines of TDS and LWT…and also that somehow the next spinoff must be done by someone named some variation of "John"
Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are beautiful countries even though many Americans don't know where they are.
If the USA didn't protect liquor licences as if it was their virginity and rents were no so ridiculously high, we'd have quirky bars here too. They just wont make enough money.
Our closest is a country music bar or a sports bar.
Putin's stated reasons do not matter. If he invades "anywhere" he will also make justifying "mouth noises". That is a discussion of the truth-value of propaganda.
All that matters is the perpetrators and who believes that.
I love Jordan Klepper!❤ He is brilliant and also a great comedian!
I'm off to Moldova soon. I'm wondering if it will be similar
The people giving Russia a pass, as if this isn't America's conflict, has no context of history or reality.
We must stop Russia, all free nations that value liberty must stand against him in every way we can.
You always have to use Kilometers. It's time you weirdos come to the logical side.
After 500000 russians (obviously the smart ones) fled from Russia in 2022/2023 (when they still could) MANY countries in Asia and Europe should by that argument be "Liberated" by Putin and his mafia..
Klepper nails it. Americans create their boogeymen, Estonians live under actual threat as a result of theirs. Massive difference
Thank you, Jordan Klepper, for your dedication to highlighting important stories and your commitment to impactful journalism! For a unique glimpse into Estonian sentiment, I recommend watching "Mu isamaa on minu arm" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTdOiCa0-4o. This song transcends mere music for many Estonians—it embodies deep national pride and commemorates their historical pursuit of freedom and sovereignty. In 1969, during the Estonian Song Festival, "Mu isamaa on minu arm" was performed as an act of defiance against Soviet restrictions, with the crowd passionately joining in, making it a symbol of resistance. This iconic moment highlighted the unbreakable spirit of Estonians and their use of cultural expression as peaceful protest. The song's powerful rendition played a crucial role in Estonia's journey towards independence during the Singing Revolution. To this day, Estonians continue to sing it with profound love and respect for the country and it's cruel history.
There is a joke in post Soviet countries:
– Stop speaking Russian.
– Don't worry, locals won't beat you for that. We are quite liberal.
– I am not afraid of locals. I am afraid that if Russians hear me speaking Russian, then they would come here to liberate me.
Jordan Klepper should be the next host. He has shown a depth of understanding of topics that we liberal elites appreciate while still being funny
Russian neighbours are under threat but Russians would bleed pretty bad if they do!
Well done 👏🏼
thnk you for "american gulibility"
I love Tallin <3
