The Chargers have a number of big names on the injury report heading into Sunday’s game against the Chiefs.
Quarterback Justin Herbert’s name is the biggest one. Herbert was out after last Sunday’s loss to the Steelers with an ankle injury sustained in Week 2, and his participation in practice was limited throughout the week. The Chargers list him as questionable, and part of the decision could be based on who can block in his place.
Left tackle Rashawn Slater is out with a pectoral muscle injury, and rookie right tackle Joe Alto is questionable with a knee injury. If the Chargers feel they can’t protect an injured Herbert, they might be better off giving everyone a bye until Week 5 to recover.
Injuries are not just an issue on the offensive side. Edge rusher Joey Bosa will be sidelined after being forced to leave early in last Sunday’s game with a hip injury.
Linebacker Junior Colson (hamstring) is also out, wide receiver Delius Davis (hamstring), cornerback Christian Fulton (knee), cornerback Dean Leonard (hamstring), Cornerback Jasir Taylor (fibula) is the other player in the questionable category.
