AI is becoming increasingly sophisticated and sophisticated, making it very hard to know how the technology is being used.
While AI undoubtedly has many wonderful uses, it is also being used irresponsibly, something Ortega openly pointed out.
In fact, the actress’ first exposure to the dangerous side of technology came after she had a frightening experience online as a child.
“I hate A.I.,” she told The New York Times.
“So, AI could be used for incredible things. I think I saw the other day that artificial intelligence could detect breast cancer four years before it progresses. That’s amazing. Let’s just leave it at that.”
Discussing the dark side of AI, Ortega added: “Was I 14 years old and I made a Twitter account because I had to, and I loved looking at salacious edited content of myself as a child? No. That’s horrifying. That’s corrupting. That’s wrong.”
When the interviewer clarified that Ortega was referring to seeing AI-generated pornographic images as a child, she added, “Yes, of course.”
As they further discussed social media, Ortega explained that the first direct message she opened contained a photo of “male genitalia,” and that that moment was “the beginning of what was to come.”
Ortega said she closed her account after the experience, adding that it was “very unpleasant.”
“It made me feel uncomfortable. Anyway, that’s why I removed it. [Twitter]Because if I didn’t see it, I couldn’t say anything. So I woke up one day and thought, Oh, I don’t need this anymore. So I stopped doing it.”

Ortega recently spoke out about the controversy surrounding the film Miller’s Girl, in which she co-starred with Martin Freeman.
Ortega starred alongside Freeman earlier this year in an erotic thriller about an affair between an 18-year-old girl played by Ortega and a creative writing teacher played by British actor Freeman.
The film features an X-rated sex scene between the pair, who act out an erotic story written by Ortega’s character.
Social media users were understandably stunned by the sight.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair , Ortega said about the film: “It’s not supposed to be a feel-good movie. It’s supposed to be awful at times.”
“Art isn’t always fun or happy, and in the end we all fly off into the sunset. We’ve all had messed up experiences at some point.”
