WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United States have agreed to build stronger defense cooperation through a tripartite military initiative as part of their strategic partnership, as India seeks to consolidate its position as a leading global player and strengthen its defense capabilities.
The three countries will cooperate on a series of military initiatives covering areas such as joint training, intelligence sharing and defense technology cooperation, aiming to contribute to building regional security and stability, combating terrorism, defeating maritime security adversaries, and ensuring the security of vital sea lanes in the Indo-Pacific region and the Persian Gulf.
Saudi Arabia has taken important steps as a key defense partner for the United States, becoming a base for greater cooperation in the defense sector, including facilitating military equipment sales. Cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the UAE is also strengthening as Gulf states push to modernize their militaries to become a regional security hub.
The UAE has long been considered one of the United States’ most important partners in the Middle East and has participated in multilateral operations around the world, including in Afghanistan and Iraq. Given that India’s growing power and defense needs are issues of major concern, this tripartite collaboration represents an important opportunity to pool resources and expertise through a collaborative approach to address security of shared concern.
The areas of cooperation are focused on defense readiness among the three countries, with an emphasis on counterterrorism, intelligence sharing and joint military exercises. These measures are expected to enhance interoperability among the three militaries and facilitate smoother joint operations in the face of future security challenges.
Maritime security, especially in India’s strategic waters around the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf, is a major focus. Both these regions are important for global trade and the security of their sea lanes is itself crucial for international trade. The tripartite cooperation will ensure safety of sea lanes and freedom of navigation free from pirate attacks.
Another pillar of this tripartite cooperation is the transfer of defense technology. India, which is rapidly expanding its defense manufacturing industry, will benefit from the superior defense technology of the U.S. and the UAE. This will not only strengthen the Indian Armed Forces but also support India’s efforts to become a defense stronghold.
Meanwhile, the United States will continue to maintain its leadership in security in the Indo-Pacific and Middle East regions with advanced military technological advantages and expertise aligned with its broader strategic objectives.
