How do you spend your time during a long flight? Do you like to read a book, watch an in-flight movie, listen to a podcast, or browse your phone? Recently, a new trend has emerged that eliminates all these options. Welcome to “rawdogging” – but not in the way you might imagine. This unusual fad started with some young guys on the internet. They would sit and think for the entire flight, or stare out the window, avoiding in-flight entertainment altogether. Recently, a YouTuber reported that the entire plane had to “rawdogging” during an 11-hour flight when the entertainment screens were turned off.
The best passengers could do was switch the screen to a map showing the remaining flight time. Despite trying to reset the screen, the YouTuber says he experienced a “total blackout” about four hours into the flight. He said he couldn’t even sleep because his fellow passengers were using bright reading lights.
The video shows many passengers staring at a blank screen with the message “Please wait,” and explains that the fifth and sixth hours were the “Please wait” ordeal. After the screen reset, it showed only the airline’s logo for a few hours. As he was trying to sleep, the person next to him’s reading light was “brighter than the sun,” he said.

While some passengers had no choice but to eat raw food during the trip, others were preoccupied. The YouTuber couple packed books and downloaded movies in their luggage, so they didn’t eat raw food like the others. In a comment, he said, “I watched four episodes of House of the Dragon and then a bunch of movies.”
“This is why when I fly I bring a book, or a notebook to write in, and I attach a little light to my luggage that’s much dimmer than the reading lights on the plane,” one user wrote in the comments.
“Never expect the airline to do anything on time or within their terms and conditions. The airline is not responsible unless you sue or complain later. You won’t get repairs or compensation during the flight. In fact, you may be ‘labeled’ and barred from future flights,” wrote another user.
“This happened to me on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Rome. I ate raw dog food for 9 hours. But the food was delicious,” a third user wrote.
