A Perth woman has shared an easy way to cut her gas bill by $15 every time she fills up her car. The content creator called it the “biggest life hack” and urged others to try to save money too.
Miranda Brady revealed she uses the My 7-Eleven app to “lock in” low gas prices. Through the app, customers can search for and lock the lowest price at a nearby 7-Eleven service station and redeem this low price for the next week.
Brady told Yahoo Finance that she heard about the TikTok savings hack earlier this year. She shared that the fuel lock feature saves her an average of $15 every time she fills up.

“I’m still new to using it, but I wish I had found it sooner,” she said.
“Since I work from home, I don’t get hungry as often as I used to, but a lot of my friends travel for work every day, so I tell everyone about it.”
7-Eleven announced in February that it would limit savings to a maximum of 25 cents per liter.
This left some customers disappointed, with some saying they felt “ripped off” by the changes to their savings amounts.
A 7-Eleven spokesperson told Yahoo Finance that “savings will vary depending on the situation” and “are not guaranteed.”
The spokesperson added that the chain is always looking for “ways to provide convenience, choice and value to our customers.”

Fuel hacks are “easy”
Ms Brady said she could have saved “a lot more” before the cap was introduced, but still encouraged other Australians to try the hack.
She also revealed that when she recently filled her car with gas, the attendant told her to use the app to lock in the price in case the price went up by 55 cents the next day.
“The cost of living is always going up, so this makes sense,” Brady told Yahoo Finance.
“Fuel is one of Australians’ biggest recurring expenses and is almost unavoidable – most of us need to drive.

“But just as importantly, you’ll save time by avoiding the chaotic waiting lines on ‘cheap fuel days.’ I’m saving money and time. ”
A Perth content creator shared a video about how he saved money using the ‘Price Lock’ feature, and many Australians shared their two cents in the comments.
“It’s great. Gas is $1.89 where I am, but I paid $1.55,” said one woman.
“Oh, great idea, we should do this!!!” said another.
“The only thing is you only save 25 cents per liter. So even if it jumps 50 cents per liter, you won’t save that full amount. Although it will still help,” a third person wrote. Ta.
Gasoline prices fluctuate regularly, so being able to lock in prices “feels like you’re cheating the system,” Brady said.
