If you frequently watch YouTube, whether on mobile or desktop, press to stop ads and move to the content you choose to view.[スキップ]You may have noticed that the button has changed. On mobile, both iOS and Android, the regular[スキップ]The countdown to the button is no longer displayed. So instead of a countdown timer,[スキップ]The entire ad will be displayed until the button appears. Some people report seeing a dark square on their desktop where the timer would normally be.
In a comment to The Verge, Google said it would not remove the “skip” button. YouTube spokesperson Oluwa Farodun said in a statement: “With skippable ads, the button will appear five seconds after it starts playing, as usual. Yes, that’s true. But for some reason, Google… We have removed the 5-second countdown timer that leads to playback.” Falodun’s additional comment about having a skip button make sense.

A YouTube spokesperson said the “Skip” button will not be retired, even if the number of seconds it takes to appear changes. Farodan noted that YouTube is “reducing elements of the ad player” to allow “viewers to engage more deeply with ads through a cleaner experience.” Instead of covering a small portion of the ad with a square (which, to be fair, can be distracting), a progress bar at the bottom of the screen could replace a countdown timer on both desktop and mobile.

For YouTubers who watch countdown timers like hawks and hit the “skip” button as soon as they appear, removing the countdown timer will throw off the timing, and Google will want to see fewer ads. You may be expecting. More than I expected to see. If you’re interested in advertising, don’t get too carried away.[スキップ]You might forget to click on it and before you know it, you’ll know all about its location.
Some are concerned that the removal of the countdown timer is a harbinger of Google’s future decision to remove the skip button entirely, which will force YouTube users to watch their selected videos before they watch them. This means that you will have to wait until the ads are completely finished.
