The boss of the cybersecurity company CrowdStrike has said he is “deeply sorry” for the global IT chaos caused by a flawed software update to Microsoft’s Windows operating system which was provided by his company.
George Kurtz, the CEO of CrowdStrike, warned that it may take some time for the fix which has been implemented to work and for services to return to normal.
Millions of people around the world have been affected, after transport networks, businesses, healthcare services, TV networks and payroll systems were among those hit by the biggest global computer outage ever.
Computers failed to start-up after the flawed update and technology experts have said that every affected PC may need to be individually provided with a software fix.

Crowdstrike might like to remember that the third pillar of security is availability.

Ok silly. Crowdstrike shouldn't be needed in first place.

So… We witness the power and potential for mass surveillance, control and cyber-warfare that could be implemented by a single source with ability to "CrowdStrike" billions of computers that run the world at the operating system Kernel level?

This guy's shady company is on the verge of getting sued right out of existence. Only when it finally does will I be anywhere close to a 'forgiving' mood, lol…
Correction: This affected companies that were running CrowdStrike on a Microsoft system.
As an IT guy, nothing is more annoying than people talking shit because they dont know IT and then calling you stupid.
I guess a digital world isn't such a good idea after all.
What a worthless report. 11 minutes and no explanation of what the problem actually was. I was hoping for an explanation such as "CroudStrike sent I file to Microsoft that Microsoft then sent to the PCs and servers of thousands of banks, hospitals and other businesses. That Croudstrike file was read by the Microsoft PC and server operating system as those systems restarted and prevented the Microsoft operating system from completely restarting." From there you could talk about deficiencies in testing such updates or what vulnerabilities such a scenario illustrates and ask the companies involved what plans they have to address these problems.
Let's sing songs and tell jokes were you 💀 at the end 😂
