Mike McDonald’s Seattle Seahawks were in the Motor City on Monday night for the rookie head coach’s first prime-time game against the Detroit Lions. With Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II, Boi Maffe, and Uchenna Nwosu out for this game, the Seahawks’ defense going into this game, especially the Lions’ dynamic backfield of David Montgomery and Jahmil Gibbs. There were major concerns about the duo. Those concerns quickly proved reasonable as Seattle’s defense struggled mightily throughout the first half. The first half score looked bad, but in the end DK Metcalf’s fumble was the difference in this game so far. Aside from the costly turnovers, Geno Smith and his offense were poised for aerial combat.
The Lions won on a toss-and-take ball. Not their typical move.
Are you disrespectful to our D?

Jahmil Gibbs has a 3-yard TD run. The Lions took advantage of the turnover and now led 14-0.

We’re missing our entire defensive line and it’s showing

I’ll tell you the truth, Mr. Secretary, that this was not the outcome we had in mind. However, this second half was an offensive masterpiece by anyone who watched it. Geno Smith and Ryan Grubb found something tonight, and the return of Kenneth Walker III was worth the wait. Injuries aside, our defense tonight was questionable at best, but what keeps me up is that awful offense against Tyler Lockett that negated fourth down conversions by Geno and Jackson Smith-Njiba. It’s a pass interference call. Truth be told, the Lions played great ball and got the win, but the thought of playing them in the playoffs makes me salivate, and I’m sure Williams, Murphy, Mayfe, and Nwosu share that sentiment. . .

Even in Detroit, there are fake phone calls that give the home team an advantage…

Opi?!? Are you kidding? Please say Detroit won at this point!! The referees are either blind or biased.

If the guy covering you stops you on your route and the defender runs into you, it’s not offensive pass interference. You’ll have to either run into him yourself or go out of your way to contact him, it’s not a phone call!
