That nugget? Now, according to Brooks, the woman said she feared he would hire someone to kill her.
“Defendant also asserted the belief that Plaintiff was planning to hire someone to kill her,” Brooks’ filing reads Whiskey Riff. “Plaintiffs first learned of these allegations in a July 17 demand letter, none of which has any basis in fact.”
It’s reassuring to point out that Brooks brought up the accusation and denied it, as Brooks has all the other charges in this case.
The country music legend told CBS that he filed a lawsuit against his anonymous accuser for “extortion and defamation” about a month ago.
“For the past two months, I have been endlessly bombarded with threats, lies and tragic stories about what my future will be if I don’t write a check for millions of dollars,” he told CBS. “It felt like a loaded gun was being waved at my face. Hush money is still hush money, more or less. In my mind, it was about something I couldn’t do myself, a human being. means he is admitting ugly acts that should never be done to another person. We filed a lawsuit against this person almost a month ago against extortion and defamation. We are raising this issue anonymously for the sake of both families. We want to continue to do good things tonight. These great things are now in question. It’s especially heartbreaking. I trust the system, I’m not afraid of the truth, and I’m not the person they caused me to be.”
He is accused of sexually assaulting a former hair and makeup artist who worked for him.
The woman, identified in court documents as Jane Roe, claims Brooks raped her in a Los Angeles hotel room in 2019, according to multiple reports. According to USA Today, the woman claims the singer “seized what she saw as an opportunity.” This is to reveal to his female employees a side of Brooks that he hides from the public. This side of Brooks believes that they have a right to sexual gratification whenever they want, and it’s only fair that they use female employees to get it. ”
The lawsuit alleges that the woman was first hired by Brooks’ wife, country music star Trisha Yearwood, in 1999, according to USA Today. The documents say the woman worked at Yearwood until 2017, when she began working again. For Brooks. The woman claims the incident happened in May 2019 when she and Brooks traveled on a private jet to attend singer Sam Moore’s Grammy Awards.
She claims Brooks booked her a one-bedroom hotel suite. She claimed that Brooks then exposed his naked body to her and that she “locked herself in the room alone with Brooks.” According to USA Today, she claimed that while Brooks “towered over her,” she “couldn’t escape his physical control.”
The woman also claimed that Brooks “frequently discussed sexual acts and fantasies, sent sexually explicit text messages, and suggested a sexual threesome with Yearwood,” USA Today reported.
The woman’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, told CBS: “I commend my client’s courage in moving forward with the charges against Garth Brooks.” “The indictment filed today shows that sex offenders exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood, the rap and rock and roll industries, but also in the world of country music. Convinced that he was responsible for his actions, his efforts to silence his client by filing pre-emptive charges in Mississippi were nothing short of an act of desperation and attempted intimidation. We encourage anyone who may have been affected to contact us, as no survivor should suffer in silence.”
