The ship left the UAE’s port of Fujairah on July 8 as part of Operation Chivalry 3, a campaign launched by the UAE to support vulnerable Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The vessel is the fourth to arrive in Arish as part of the “Chivalrous Knight 3” program and the eighth UAE aid ship to the Gaza Strip. It is also the largest UAE aid ship ever sent to Gaza in terms of cargo and diversity of contents.
The ship is carrying 5,340 tons of relief supplies and food, including 4,134 tons of food parcels packed into a total of 145,000 packages, 145 tons of rice and flour, 110 tons of water distributed in 200,000 packages, more than 4,000 tents, 42,000 medical packages for women and children, 18 tons of sun, wind and dust covers, and 1,600 relief items.
The ship’s cargo was provided by the Emirates Red Crescent, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, and was unloaded onto the ship by 313 trucks.
ERC Secretary-General Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri said: “Since the difficult situation faced by our Palestinian brothers, the UAE has continuously played its humanitarian and relief role by taking all possible measures to assist them, in accordance with the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian situation suffered by our brothers in the Gaza Strip.”
Al-Mansouri stressed that the arrival of the fourth ship in the Gaza Strip is the largest ever in terms of cargo and diversity of aid, marking an important step in meeting the various needs of the Palestinian people.
As part of Operation Chivalry 3, the UAE has launched various initiatives, including building one field hospital in the Gaza Strip and one off the coast of Al-Arish city, as well as constructing five automated bread factories. Flour has also been provided to eight existing bread factories in the Gaza Strip, and six desalination plants have been built to produce 1.2 million gallons of water per day for delivery to the Gaza Strip, benefiting over 600,000 people.
The Joint Operations Command has also launched Operation Good Birds, an airdrop operation to deliver humanitarian aid to isolated areas in the northern Gaza Strip that are inaccessible by land. The total amount of relief and humanitarian supplies dropped so far is 3,382 tonnes. (ANI/WAM)
