Plagued by a global pandemic and industry-wide strikes, Hollywood has experienced an unprecedented era of frugality in recent years. But financial experts like Erin Oremland, general manager at AgilLink and senior VP and head of ecosystem delivery at City National Bank, are excited about the new entertainment industry that will help him manage his business more efficiently than ever before. We are committed to providing data and analytical tools.
“We all know that business is changing, especially the entertainment industry right now,” Oremland said. “There’s a lot of consolidation, downsizing, and adjustment going on, and everyone is really looking for ways to do more with less. The best way to do that is by leveraging technology. .”
As part of Variety’s Entertainment & Technology Summit hosted by City National Bank, Oremland spoke with Shahin Mohammadkhani, vice president of engineering at United Talent Agency, and David Garelick, CEO and president of global business management at United Talent Agency, to discuss this challenge. We discussed business priorities during this time. The conversation was moderated by Andrew Wallenstein, President and Chief Media Analyst at Variety Intelligence Platform.
Mohammadkhani and UTA have been working with City National for about two years. Through their partnership, Mohammadkhani was empowered to “demystify banking” for his UTA clients, fully automating the transfer of funds between studios and talent.
“[We are] remove stress [the clients] This gives management the opportunity to see all transactions being made for customers, which in turn reduces internal processes,” Mohammadkhani said. “I won’t go into details, but at the end of the day it’s important that both sides fully understand what our aspirations are and how we can work together to achieve them.”
Before the age of automation, Garelick said Global Business Management, Inc. would receive “hundreds of checks” each month that could take up to “two weeks or a month” to cash for customers. there was. Now, with the help of Oremland and his AgilLink system, these payments are delivered “instantly.”
“Funds will be credited to the customer’s account immediately and automatically credited to the customer’s account,” Garelick said. “That was kind of a game changer. Checks don’t get lost in the mail, customers get their money, and they get it very quickly.”
