Everton are the latest entrants in the race to sign Copa America finalist Richard Rios, with Palmeiras asking between 15 and 20 million euros for the midfielder.
According to Jorge Nicola, Everton are interested in signing Richard Rios. The Colombian midfielder is likely to leave South America after receiving strong interest from the Premier League. Palmeiras are asking between 15 and 20 million euros for the midfielder, while Fulham are also interested in signing the midfielder.
Everton interested in Richard Rios
Richard Rios shot to fame during the Copa America, where he played some impressive games and helped Colombia reach the final, but unfortunately a late defeat to Argentina ended their hopes of winning the continental championship.
Rios believes there is already interest from several top clubs, with Fulham also keen to sign the midfielder. Marco Silva is keen to sign two new midfielders, with fellow South American star Andre Trindade also in the running for another midfielder. He is reportedly in talks with Palmeiras over a transfer, but no deal has been agreed so far.
Everton are the latest team to show interest in the midfielder and are ready to sign a replacement for Amadou Onana. Palmeiras are ready to sell the midfielder for between 15 and 20 million euros, despite Rios’ contract containing a release clause of more than 100 million euros. Meanwhile, according to UOL, Everton have made enquiries about the Copa America star.
Richard Rios will likely explore the possibility of a move to a European club, but may wait until more clubs are willing to sign him. For now, either Everton or Fulham could sign him, provided Palmeiras are willing to pay the amount they require.
Everton or Fulham for Rios?
Rios has a good choice between the two clubs – he controlled Colombia’s midfield well in the Copa America and both are likely to offer him a key role – but he will have to make a careful decision based on their respective projects.
Marco Silva has the big task of replacing Joao Parinha and will have a bigger influence on the South American than Sean Dyche, and while Everton could have a shot, Fulham are currently the slight favourites to land the Colombian international, who is valued at between €15-20 million.
