The next Emmy Awards will be held in a family format.
Eugene and Dan Levy, father and son who co-starred in the Emmy Award-winning sitcom “Schitt’s Creek,” have been named hosts of the 76th annual Emmy Awards.
“For two Canadians who literally won their Emmys in a quarantine tent, being asked to host in an actual theater this year was motivation enough,” Eugene and Dan Levy said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be toasting this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to share the evening with you all on September 15th.”
“Eugene and Dan’s comedic instincts and uncanny ability to connect with audiences will make for a memorable Emmy Awards telecast honoring this year’s best and brightest,” said Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group.
The two will take over from recent hosts Anthony Anderson, Kenan Thompson and Cedric the Entertainment.
“We are thrilled to welcome two generations of comedic geniuses to the Emmy stage as our hosts,” said Television Academy president Chris Abrego. “Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable hilarious moments on screen, and together they are superpowers. I can’t wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”
The Emmy Awards will be held on ABC on September 15th and will stream on Hulu the following day.
