Dear Reader,
The Chicago Sun-Times was not printed or delivered Tuesday due to an unexpected problem with a printing press at our vendor, the Chicago Tribune Co., which also prints the Tribune, Daily Herald, Wall Street Journal and New York Times newspapers.
Unfortunately, these issues are ongoing and we do not know when printing will resume at our usual locations. Wednesday and Thursday newspapers need to be printed at multiple facilities across the region, which is impacting how and when newspapers are delivered to you. On Wednesday, some Sun-Times newspapers were delivered late and some people did not receive their newspaper at all.
The only way to get Thursday’s paper published and delivered was to meet the deadline of 6 p.m. on Wednesday, more than four hours earlier than usual.
As a result, Wednesday night’s news stories, including important speeches from the Republican National Convention and evening sporting events, could not be included in Thursday’s paper. You can continue to find timely news about Thursday night’s events on our website at suntimes.com and in our morning and afternoon email newsletters. We will also provide you with updates in Friday’s paper.
We deeply apologize for the ongoing confusion. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Thank you for reading the Sun-Times and for your support.
From my heart,
Jennifer Ko
