New Ulm head coach Tim Proscher talked about dealing with mistakes after Tuesday’s loss to Marshall, but the Eagles didn’t look like a team that makes many mistakes Thursday. But they were tired and hurt.
“We’re obviously dealing with injuries very seriously,” Plocher said. “Jens [Quist] In fact, he hurt his foot in the last game, and there are players like Josh. [Shaneman] I have a hip flexor injury. … It’s going to be pretty difficult, especially when you play three tough games in a row and the wind is blowing and you have one practice between those three games. ”
Quist ended up stopping 11 shots on net for the Eagles.
New Ulm was outscored 15-6 in shots on target, but only had one shot on target in the first half, with slow dribbler Logan Gobrirsh’s effort from his feet an easy shot just before the halftime horn. covered.
The Cougars took the lead in the 14th minute with a goal from Salman Ali, then went ahead 2-0 on a penalty kick by Joel Dillon in the 26th minute, finishing the game with a hat trick.
Plotcher said in addition to New Ulm’s fatigue, some players will be dealing with the challenge of playing against familiar faces.
“Some of the issues we have, especially against this team, a lot of the guys that play summer ball are on the same team as them, and they get in each other’s heads. ” he said. “And I have some guys that have to win that part of the game as well.”
In the second half, a pass from Ali to Dillon found the back of the net, and it didn’t take long for East to take a 3-0 lead. Quist initially stopped the shot with his foot, but the ball eventually managed to get past Quist.
New Ulm finally broke through in the 58th minute with Micah Scotting’s chip shot in traffic to make it 3-1.
“Micah Scotting scored a great goal…perfection beyond everyone,” Proscher said. “I’m especially grateful to him because he usually doesn’t just take shots over the net and sometimes we struggle with that, so I appreciate Mika for that.” And with Nico Jackson showed a really great combination to score another goal there. ”
New Ulm’s other goal came in the 75th minute on a through pass from Jackson Ocampo to Nico del Castillo-Diez, and Dillon’s strong shot completed the hat trick as East took a 4-1 lead. In the 64th minute. Dillon’s third goal was assisted by Idris Daes.
