In all my years on the internet, I have never been attacked as much as I was yesterday. I get it. If I post a nasty video, it’s natural that some people will hate me in the comments section. But yesterday was different. If you don’t want people to be mean to you online, don’t post pictures of your meat.
I learned that lesson the hard way. I thought I’d share a few culinary achievements, but the internet had other plans. People started criticizing me more harshly than I would have liked for a steak. It was as if I’d committed a crime against humanity. Everyone was suddenly a master chef, a food critic, an expert on all things barbecue. My notifications were flooded with insults, criticism, and just plain spite.

I have been on the receiving end of all kinds of abuse. And the worst part is, some of it was actually quite funny. I couldn’t help but laugh at the sarcastic remarks, even if they were meant to make fun of me. But I was not prepared for the onslaught. If you can’t stand the vitriol, stay out of the kitchen, or at least, stay out of social media.

Even my dad couldn’t tell if it was a steak or a pork chop.
Lesson learned: next time, think twice before sharing your culinary creations with the world.
