Cristiano Ronaldo launched a new YouTube channel on Wednesday, and the platform, titled “UR,” took less than 90 minutes to hit the milestone of 1 million subscribers.
The channel reportedly became the fastest channel to reach seven figures in subscribers, and YouTube presented the Portuguese legend with a plaque to commemorate the milestone, which he shared on X.
In his introduction video, Ronaldo said the platform will allow him to talk about his passions, not just football, but also “family, nutrition, health, preparation, recovery, education and business.” The Al Nasr forward also confirmed that several guests will be visiting on a regular basis.
“I am very excited to bring this project to life,” Ronaldo said. “It’s been something I’ve been thinking about for a long time and finally the opportunity has come to make it happen. I’ve always enjoyed having a strong connection with my fans on social media, but my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do that and allow my fans to get to know more about me, my family and my thoughts on a variety of topics. I’m also looking forward to sharing conversations with some guests that will definitely surprise people!”
At the time of writing, his YouTube channel already has over 16.5 million followers and continues to grow. Ronaldo also beat the previous record for the fastest time to reach 10 million subscribers, held by popular content creator Mr. Beast.
Ronaldo is the most followed person on social media, with around 918 million followers across all platforms. But he has some way to go before he catches up with Mr. Beast’s 311 million subscribers on YouTube. It’s fair to say he’s had a head start from day one. So far, his YouTube channel has 12 short videos, most of which feature his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their children.
