July’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) was released this morning. Consumer prices rose 0.2% in July and 2.9% year-over-year. Core CPI, which excludes food and fuel, rose 0.2% month-over-month and 3.2% year-over-year, dropping to its lowest level since 2021. Family-owned candy giant Mars is acquiring Kelenova (K) in a mega deal worth about $36 billion. Kelenova’s brands include Pringles, Eggo and Pop-Tarts. Yahoo Finance’s trending tickers include Starbucks (SBUX), Chipotle (CMG) and UBS Group (UBS).
