The Dallas Cowboys will likely place DeMarcus Lawrence on injured reserve.
Lawrence was injured Thursday night when Lisfranc injured his right foot in a 20-15 win over the New York Giants. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the bones in his leg are intact and no surgery is needed.
However, Lawrence will need four to eight weeks to recover. As a result, the Cowboys will likely place Lawrence on injured reserve, keeping him out until at least November.
Lawrence collapsed while trying to chase down Giants QB Daniel Jones in the third quarter of Thursday’s victory at MetLife Stadium. Lawrence awkwardly stepped on his right foot in the process, eventually walking to the sideline and leaving the game. He was immediately ruled out.
Lawrence totaled two tackles in the win before going down. He has totaled 14 tackles and three sacks so far this season, his 11th total with the Cowboys.
In addition to Lawrence’s injury, Cowboys star Micah Parsons also left Thursday’s game early with a sprained ankle. Parsons was sick in the fourth quarter and could take weeks to recover. However, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Friday that Lawrence’s injury is much more serious than Parsons’ and that Parsons may not be placed on injured reserve. Parsons has totaled 14 tackles and one sack in four games this fall.
The Cowboys, currently 2-2, will face the Pittsburgh Steelers next week.
