Recently, Michael Scotto of Hoopshype reported that the LA Clippers were interested in backup point guard Tyus Jones. According to Law Murary of The Athletic, that rumor appears to have been quashed now that the team has acquired Kris Dunn.
The following excerpt was first reported by Michael Scott.
“Tyus Jones, the top free agent on HoopsHype’s board, continues to attract interest from multiple teams as a sign-and-trade candidate, including the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scott said. “The Clippers could potentially offer the Washington Wizards compensation draft picks or Bones Highland in return for helping make a sign-and-trade happen, dangling a combination of P.J. Tucker and Russell Westbrook’s expiring contracts.”
However, according to The Athletic’s Lo Murray, the LA Clippers were not planning on acquiring Tyus Jones for the team.
For those who believed the nonsense, let me confirm here that the Clippers were never involved with Tyus Jones, and with the Kris Dunn trade finally going through, all of those rumors are now over.

At this point, it seems pretty much set in stone that Kris Dunn is the backup point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers. It’s clear that the Clippers wanted Dunn to replace Russell Westbrook, and they like the defensive presence Dunn brings. What that means for Vaughn Hyland remains to be seen, but one can only imagine he wouldn’t want to play third base for another season, especially considering he’s still only 23 years old.
