One of the areas that Real Madrid are considering adding to next summer is in central defense, and they are currently in the process of identifying potential options. One of the players mentioned is RB Lights Pig Castello Lukeva, but as is often the case, that’s not the only player they’re interested in.
Lukaba, 21, joined from Olympique Lyonnais last summer in a deal worth €30 million, but his performances in the Bundesliga and Champions League have already attracted the most attention. There is no rush to sell Leizpig as he has four years left on his contract, but Real Madrid reportedly scouted Lukba during the German team’s game against Atlético Madrid.
He has been named by Chelsea in England, with manager Fabrizio Romano confirming interest from England in an interview with Caught Offside.
“There are no discussions, there are no ongoing negotiations,” Romano told the Daily Briefing.
“Several top clubs have been pursuing Lucuba for months, including clubs in Spain and England… but it would never have been possible for any club to sign him from Leipzig in January after selling Simakan in August. I don’t think it will be easy.”
The Whites are also keeping an eye on Valencia centre-back Jarek Gasiorowski, who has a release clause of 45 million euros. There is no doubt that Leipzig would like to pay at least double what they paid for the Frenchman, so by signing Lukaba Real Madrid would need to be convinced that he is the player of the future. It should also be noted that Real Madrid still have a long way to go before making any decisions.
