USA Today named the Massachusetts inn the top waterfront hotel in the country in its annual rankings released last week.
The paper named Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod as the top spot on its list of the most “memorable and relaxing” places for a waterside getaway, based on selections by hotel and travel experts and votes from readers.
The hotel features a quarter-mile of private beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and 25 landscaped acres feature poolside and beachfront cabanas, lounges, cottages, and six on-site restaurants.
“There’s plenty to do,” USA Today writes. “Sit back in an Adirondack chair, explore the town or head out to sea to watch for whales.”
Our hotel has received similar certification in the past.
The destination has been welcoming visitors to Chatham since 1914, according to USA Today.
Amenities include babysitting or child care services, a business center, Internet, concierge services, and a gift shop.
According to the hotel’s website, guests can also enjoy a spa with relaxation rooms, private steam showers, a tranquil Zen garden, an outdoor pool and a hot tub.
“I’m thrilled to accept this award on behalf of the entire team,” the hotel said in a post on its Twitter account. “Thank you to everyone who voted for us!”
Wentworth by the Sea in New Castle, New Hampshire, came in at number four, the second New England hotel to make the list.
