Boar’s Head plant in Virginia closes
Boar’s Head closed its Jarratt, Virginia, plant earlier this month, leaving about 500 people out of work.
This comes after a report prepared by inspectors with the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service was released by the agency documenting “noncompliance” at the plant, including insects, mold and mildew found at the plant. It was done later. Further records have since been released citing issues at the Boar’s Head plant dating back to January 2022.
In addition to multi-agency investigations into the outbreak, several lawsuits have been filed, and food safety attorney Bill Marler is calling for a Congressional investigation.
