Amazon Studios has also set a release date for the musical film, with “Cinderella” set to hit theaters in September of this year. Cabello has written original songs for the film with Idina Menzel, and the pair will star alongside Nicholas Galitzine, Minnie Driver, Billy Porter and Pierce Brosnan.
Directed by Kay Cannon, Cinderella was originally a Sony theatrical release but will now be released by Amazon. Cannon also wrote the screenplay, which stars Cabello as the ambitious Cinderella and Billy Porter as “Fab G,” a man who wants to help her achieve her dreams.
Amazon also released the first look at the film’s official poster.

Producer James Corden and the filmmaking team have reimagined this beloved fairy tale with a fresh and powerful perspective that will resonate with audiences and families around the world. We couldn’t be more excited for audiences around the world to sing and dance along to director Kay Cannon’s new interpretation of this classic,” Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement.
James Corden also serves as a producer on Cinderella along with Leo Perlman, Jonathan Caidin and Shannon McIntosh. Executive producers are Louise Rosner and Josephine Rose.
