CBS Sports Network’s continued coverage of the 2023 college football season features three games scheduled for Week 5, with all games scheduled to kick off on a busy Saturday. Buffalo and UConn begin an interesting nonconference game at noon.
This game is interesting as both teams have big wins. UW defeated Florida Atlantic 48-14, earning its first win against an FBS opponent of the year. Under these conditions, it was the largest margin of victory since beating Memphis 45-10 on December 7, 2013. Not to be outdone, Buffalo won an overwhelming victory. No. 23 Northern Illinois won 23-20 and has hopes of advancing to the College Football Playoff.
In another non-conference clash, San Diego State is trying to right the ship heading into Mid-Michigan. The Aztecs have been 0-2 since winning the season opener against Texas A&M-Commerce, but had a bye week before picking up momentum in Week 4.
Wyoming and Air Force began Mountain West Conference play in Laramie with an 8 p.m. nightcap.
Once the Week 5 games begin, CBS Sports Network will be with you every step of the way. In the meantime, check out the info, storyline, betting odds and more for each matchup.

It should be a special season for the Huskies, as UConn is favored against FBS teams. They certainly contributed to the big win against Florida Atlantic, rushing for an impressive 421 yards at 6.4 yards per carry. But Buffalo is no slouch. The Bulls’ only loss this year was against a top-10 Missouri team, but they still had a respectable showing at least defensively, allowing just 38 points against one of the most explosive offenses in football. I kept it. And of course, Buffalo will resume its winning streak in the Top 25 following a Week 4 overtime win on the road against Northern Illinois.

Spread: Central Michigan -3 | Will Chippewa cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 5 predictions here
San Diego State’s bye week was a great opportunity to recover from a difficult two weeks. The Aztecs lost games to California and Oregon State by a combined score of 52-10. SDSU’s defense has been solid this year, but they will have their hands full against Central Michigan. The Chippewas currently rank second in the MAC in total offense (424 yards per game) and scoring offense (32 points per game).

Spread: Air Force-4 | Will the Falcons cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 5 predictions here
This matchup has certainly lost a lot of its luster. Both Air Force and Wyoming were considered preseason dark horses in the busy Mountain West Conference, but both programs’ combined 1-6 record means the arrows are pointing in a different direction. It shows. Neither crime has set the world ablaze so far. Wyoming hasn’t scored more than 17 points in a game, while Air Force has only scored 10 points in two games against FBS opponents. At the very least, this could be the right matchup for either team.
