“Big Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli has been suspended by Twitter after trolling a freelance journalist on the social media platform.
The man once dubbed “the most hated man in the world” had his eye on Teen Vogue writer Lauren Duca.
Shkreli began targeting her on Twitter, mocking her affection for him, including allegedly sending her direct messages asking her to be his date to Trump’s inauguration.
Duca tweeted a screenshot of Shkreli’s account to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Sunday.
One of the photos Shkreli reportedly posted to Twitter.
Shkreli’s account also reportedly featured collages featuring Duca.
The tweet included a Photoshopped photo of Duka and Shkreli, along with a collage of Duka uploaded as Shkreli’s profile picture.
Shkreli’s profile also said, “I have a little crush on @laurenduca (hopefully she doesn’t know).”
Twitter confirmed that Shkreli’s suspension was in connection with his harassment of Duca and that he would need to make some changes before his account could be reinstated.
A Twitter spokesperson confirmed to Yahoo US that Shkreli’s account had also been suspended on Periscope.
Duca told Business Insider that Shkreli “completely deserves to have his account suspended.”
“It’s unfortunate that the only reason people are paying attention is because he’s relatively well-known,” she said.
“Trolling seems to automatically be an occupational hazard when a female writer receives any professional attention. This is something Twitter needs to do more to improve, but clearly the problem is much deeper.”
Lauren Duca responded to the harassment following news of the ban by tweeting “haters.”
“No,” Shkreli said in response to Yahoo! US’s request for comment.
Shkreli, a self-described Trump supporter, first came to the public’s attention when the pharmaceutical company he founded, Turing, raised the price of a life-saving AIDS drug by more than 5,000 percent.
