The Cincinnati Bengals would have felt a lot better about their playoff chances if they beat the Baltimore Ravens and improved to 2-3. What ended up happening was that the Bengals failed to capitalize on multiple chances to win with Burrow’s interception and foolishly made a play by going for a field goal after the Ravens fumbled in overtime.
This was a winnable game for the Bengals, and Burrow’s interception came at a very inopportune time, but the real mistake in the Bengals’ loss to the Ravens was the Ravens’ poor play call after the fumble. Joe Burrow was playing very well all day, but the ball was taken out of his hands at the biggest moment of the entire game.
The team paid money for McPherson, who is a good kicker, but the odds of him making that kick were still lower than they would have been had Burrow been given the opportunity to get the Bengals within field goal range.
See what Twitter thinks about Zac Taylor’s decision to take the ball out of the hands of his team’s best player during the most important drive of the game.
The football gods blamed Zac Taylor for not letting Joe Burrow throw the ball on the day he scored 5 TDs.

If you play like you don’t want to lose, you’ll always be excited!

Zack: I feel sick thinking about those guys in there.

Zac Taylor’s is so bad
Ran 3 times for 53 yards
Absolutely terrible game management
— Josh Norris (@JoshNorris) October 6, 2024
Joe Burrow should take Zac Taylor back to his office after the game and fire him.

I watched a lot of Bengals games, both reporting and watching. I mean, there are a lot of them. This ranks as one of the most “WTF” results ever.
Terrible defense aside, the team hasn’t been able to make lucky bounces, timely calls, and/or “create their own luck.” Very few people should…

The Bengals’ coaching problems are worse than their defensive staff problems.

Joe Burrow 30/39 392 yards 5TD
And his head coach didn’t allow him to try to win the game.

Joe Burrow threw five touchdowns and the Bengals scored 38 points…
And they lost.

That’s what you get when you play scared.

53 yard field goal…
With Joe Burrow at the helm, they were unstoppable (other than one pick).
Zac Taylor should answer this. @Bengals

Joe finished with 400 yards and 5 TDs.
And in OT they took the ball out of his hands
They’ve done something like this several times before. This team’s inability to learn from past mistakes is a huge problem for this team.
I’m trying to use up the clock in OT because I can’t fix the DL… Yay! #Bengals

The problem is, this isn’t the first time such decisions have cost the Bengals dearly; it’s been going on for six years.

I wasted a great performance because of my cowardice.

I’m tired of Joe Burrow making $55 million a year and shooting field goals.
— Willie Lutz (@willie_lutz) October 6, 2024
Joe Burrow is playing MVP ball behind the best line of his career and Zac Taylor is shaking on the sideline.
— Chris Roling (@Chris_Roling) October 6, 2024
Zac Taylor said a pass was called when the Bengals got the ball back, but Joe Burrow did a good job checking it out to a better option.

Zack: People can ignore us if they want. I’m not stupid enough to do that.
— Jay Morrison (@ByJayMorrison) October 6, 2024
It’s bad enough to play not to lose instead of playing to win. But if you’re going to lose, at least try to downswing with the best players! ♂️ https://t.co/v2plkRQDY7
