Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on the residence of the United Arab Emirates ambassador in Khartoum, Sudan.
“The attack on diplomatic facilities is a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and is unacceptable,” the ministry wrote in a post on X, News.Az reported.
“Maintaining the inviolability of diplomatic facilities in accordance with international law is of paramount importance,” he said.
On September 30, the UAE reported that Sudanese military aircraft targeted its diplomatic missions abroad, which it characterized as a “heinous attack.” “The UAE calls on the military to take full responsibility for this despicable act,” the UAE Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry described the assault as a “clear violation of the fundamental principle of inviolability of diplomatic facilities” and said it caused extensive damage to the building. It also announced plans to lodge a complaint with the Arab League, African Union and United Nations.
