Israeli leaders have strongly condemned a group of settlers who went on the rampage in the occupied West Bank, killing one Palestinian man and badly injuring several others. Russia has declared a state of emergency in its Kursk region after Ukrainian forces apparently managed to advance almost 20 kilometres from the border. Hong Kong’s biggest pro-democracy newspaper, Apple Daily, will be putting out its final edition tomorrow, in what’s being seen as a significant blow to press freedom. At least 70 Palestinians have been killed and more than 200 others are said to have been injured as Israeli forces launched a new offensive in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.
