The bodies of six hostages held in Gaza have been retrieved from the Khan Younis area, Israel’s military has said. A statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the bodies of Yagev Buchshtab, Alexander Dancyg, Avraham Munder, Yoram Metzger, Haim Perry and British-Israeli Nadav Popplewell were recovered on Monday. A rebel group in western Myanmar has said it has captured a strategic town near the Indian border from the ruling military. The town of Paletwa in Chin state is one of Myanmar’s main routes to India. The Arakan Army is part of the ethnic minority rebel coalition, the Three Brotherhood Alliance, that launched coordinated attacks against Myanmar’s military government last October. A rocket engine has exploded during a launch test at the UK’s new spaceport in Shetland. The test was being carried out by German company Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) who hope to eventually launch the UK’s first vertical rocket into orbit. The scheduled nine-engine test was part of a number of trials due to be carried out before progressing to launch. Scientists say they have successfully eliminated HIV from infected cells, using Nobel Prize-winning Crispr gene-editing technology. Working like scissors, but at the molecular level, it cuts DNA so “bad” bits can be removed or inactivated. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to an American “bridging proposal” for a ceasefire deal in Gaza.
