Arsenal and Real Madrid are among Europe’s top clubs interested in signing Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis.
Both teams have made initial inquiries with Palmeiras and the player’s agent about his possible signing, but there have been no formal approaches at this time.
The centre-back renewed his contract this summer until December 2028, with his previous contract expiring in February 2027. He has a release clause of 100 million euros, but Palmeiras have not set an offer as they intend to keep him until after the 2025 Club World Cup. .
Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelona are also interested in the teenager.
Arsenal have no shortage of defenders and have added Riccardo Calafioli to their already impressive list of defensive options. That being said, a talent like Reis will always be of interest to them.
The difficult part will be convincing a young prospect to a club where Arsenal already have excellent central defenders in their primes in Gabriel and William Saliba.
Real Madrid are in need of a centre-back after failing to sign Lenny Yolo, who joined Manchester United in July.
Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger are the only centre-backs Carlo Ancelotti will have in his first-team squad this season, with David Alaba still recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in December last year.
The Austrian international recently returned to light training, but the club are unwilling to take any risks with his return and plan to reintroduce him into first-team training in December.
Reis joined Palmeiras in 2016 and made his professional debut at Verdao in June, making 15 appearances and scoring two goals since then.
Reis, who was born in 2006 like Real Madrid’s Brazilian forward Endrik, has been compared to compatriots Marquinhos and Eder Militao in terms of style and character.
He has earned 13 caps for Brazil’s youth teams, always serving as captain.
