Ariana Grande is defending her boyfriend Ethan Slater from ‘unfortunate’ rumors.
They were reportedly both single when they started dating last year, but both “Wicked” co-stars had just broken up with their respective spouses at the time, and rumors of Slater’s infidelity spread, which Grande has now reprimanded. I am doing it.
“The most disappointing thing is that so many people believe the worst version,” the Grammy winner said in an extensive cover story interview with Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo published Monday. told Vanity Fair magazine. “It was definitely a tough journey.”
Their relationship began in July last year, when reports emerged that Grande and ex-husband Dalton Gomez had ended their two-year marriage and were now dating Slater. Slater broke up with his high school sweetheart, Lily Jay, after five years. to tie a knot.
Grande and Slater made headlines just months after he sent Jay a heartfelt shout-out for Mother’s Day, as the former couple welcomed a son in 2022.
A source told TMZ that Grande didn’t start dating Slater until they separated, but Jay suggested otherwise at the time.
“It’s not a girl’s girl,” Jay told Page Six. “It’s not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.”
Grande said Monday that while she would “never get into specific details,” there was “no more accurate portrayal of Slater than what the tabloids spread about him.”
“No one on this planet would work harder or lower themselves for the people they love and care about,” she told Vanity Fair. “There is no one with a better mind on earth. No amount of bullshit tabloid paper can translate that into reality.”
Grande and Slater first became romantically involved last summer.

Mr. Slater separated from his wife a few months after their child was born, and Mr. Jay’s public statements suggested that Mr. Grande was not an honest broker, so the optics were useless. But while any cheating is just a rumor, Grande herself has experienced it.

“Honestly, the tabloids that have been trying to destroy me since I was 19 have given me the ability to go on this long and repair certain parts of my relationship with fame and my work. It took a lot of effort,” she told the outlet.
“But you know what? I’m 31 years old and I’m not a perfect person, but I’m definitely very good and I’m proud of who I’m becoming,” Grande continued. “I will never allow a disreputable and evil tabloid to ruin my life and my perception of what is true and good.”
