Aside from starring alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in this summer’s “Bad Boys Ride or Die,” the Porsche 911 Turbo S is known for many things: its heritage, its looks, its speed, its pure driving experience, and even its ability to blow away its rivals in the quarter mile. But lately, it seems to have sparked a popular trend among YouTube celebrities by replacing the Tesla Model S Plaid.
After years of driving a $136,000, 1,020-horsepower Tesla Model S Plaid and racing it against other beasts like the Lucid Sapphire, Porsche Taycan Turbo S, 840-horsepower Dodge Demon, and a host of other supercars, DragTimes’ Brooks Weisblatt has decided to ditch it for a new Porsche 911 Turbo S .
The Tesla Model S Plaid is one of the fastest cars on the planet to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. On a hot Florida night, Brooks took it for a few test drives on the highway, managing to accelerate to 60 in 1.99 seconds, minus one foot of rollout. To be fair, the actual Dragy’s speedometer read 2.16 seconds, but who’s counting? That night, he proved that you don’t need a pre-built drag strip to get the most out of your Tesla Plaid.
And so, after 40,000 miles (64,374 kilometers), his super-fast Model S Plaid has found a new owner. He wouldn’t say how much he paid for the car, but he did drop a hint: Given that the MSRP for a new Model S Plaid starts at $90,000, it’s tempting to divide that by two. People in the comments section are putting a ballpark figure of $40,000 to $45,000. Others have seen dealers selling Plaids with 40,000 miles for $50,000 to $60,000, so that’s likely what’s going to happen here.
Meanwhile, the 911 Turbo S has a range of just 500 miles (805 kilometers). It’s powered by a 3.7-liter (3,745 cc) twin-turbo engine that produces 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet (800 Nm) of torque. That’s a lot of power, and it’s available at all four corners simultaneously.

In my full throttle test, the Brooks accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 2.37 seconds (1 ft) or 2.52 ticks (depending on your preference). Statistically, it’s not that far behind the Prado. Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds is just amazing. And speaking of amazing, if the base price (MSRP) of such a 911 in 2021 was $204,000, this 2024 model will cost $230,400. But the final price of this baby was $258,430.
The Guards Red body comes with a host of options, including a high-gloss black Sport Design package for $6,150, a sports exhaust system with silver tailpipes for $3,490, a PASM sports suspension system that lowers the vehicle height by 10mm for $1,510, polished brake calipers for $900, diamond-cut Turbo S Exclusive Design wheels for $2,490, and black LED Matrix Design headlights for $750.
The gloss black rear air intakes, window trim and puddle projectors under the doors cost another $1850, and there’s 10mm paint protection film on pretty much everything. It’ll be much less susceptible to dirt. And that’s just on the outside – we’re not talking about the extra $7500 you’d spend on interior details.
At one point, Brooks considered installing a $10,330 lightweight package, which would have shaved off as much as 66 pounds (30 kilograms). Yet, with some special add-ons, he managed to reach that ideal weight: When he weighed it, the electronic scale showed just 3,571 pounds (1,619 kilograms).
A Porsche might cost as much as a house, but Weisblatt is no stranger to spending exorbitant amounts on wicked sports cars. Most recently, he splashed out $552,121 on a new Lamborghini Temerario, which is covered in $13,900 Blue Uranus. Yes, the pun was and will remain entirely intended, until the day space scientists rename the funniest planet of all time. It’s also worth noting that the Temerario’s base price is $357,621.

Brooks hasn’t been posting drag races to his YouTube channel as frequently as he used to, but the purchase of this beautiful car will hopefully lead to some exciting quarter-mile battles at Florida’s famous Bradenton Motor Park. It’ll be a treat to watch this 911 go through a few rounds against a 1,025-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170.
In January 2024, the super-famous Marques Brownlee also ditched his usual Tesla Model S for a completely different model. To his surprise, it was a new Porsche 911 Turbo S with a jet black metallic finish, black interior, chalk stitching, sports exhaust, Turbo S exclusive wheels, carbon fiber GT wheels, front axle lift, glass sunroof, and many other features.
“This is, in my opinion, one of the best sports cars ever made,” he said while describing the new ICE vehicle. “But it’s not the best at anything. It’s just top of everything. This is the most versatile, everyday sports car on the planet.” In other words, while other cars excel at one thing — speed, handling, comfort — the 911 Turbo S sports car is a nine out of nine in everything.
Now, all that’s left is to wait for other celebrities who are currently showing off their Tesla Cybertruck to trade it in and get something else.
