Everyone’s favourite hot tub steamer has found itself in hot water this week after being banned by YouTube for “sexual content”.
Amouranth, real name Kaitlyn Siragusa, is best known for her streams and videos on YouTube, Kick, and Twitch.
As a result, this content creator has amassed millions of followers across all his accounts, including his YouTube channel, which he uses to upload his ASMR videos.
The channel was recently targeted for removal after Amouranth uploaded a seemingly harmless ASMR video that was “deleted without warning.”
On August 20th, she revealed that the channel had been taken down, but was confused when she reported that she was “just brushing the microphone with a paintbrush.”
Siragusa took to Twitter to ask YouTube for help.
In response, YouTube requested a link to her channel so they could investigate the ban.
“Such a shame!” the tweet read.
“A single instance of severe misconduct (predatory activity, spam, pornography, etc.) can result in your channel being suspended without warning. Can you share your channel URL so we can check it?”
However, the official support team quickly responded, but it wasn’t the answer Amouranth was looking for.
“Our policy team confirmed that the account suspension was correct,” YouTube said in a statement, along with a link to the platform’s policies on nudity and sexual content.
“Thank you for your understanding that we need to make this difficult decision.”
It’s unclear what kind of sexual content Amouranth featured in his latest video, but it’s clear that YouTube wasn’t happy about it.
But it’s doubtful the removal will have much of an impact on content creators, as they still have millions of followers on other platforms.
Still, it’s another blow for Amouranth, who was recently demoted from her position as Twitch’s most-watched female creator.
