Denver-based ALLCITY Network launched in Dallas today with local digital sports coverage outlet DLLS. Led locally by NBA insider Marc Stein, the service will offer daily programming five days a week covering the Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars and Rangers.
The show will be streamed Monday through Friday on the DLLS YouTube page and on podcast platforms such as Apple and Spotify.
ALLCITY says it is “reimagining” local sports coverage by delivering daily team-specific programming through streaming video, podcasts and other digital platforms. Dallas is the company’s fifth market, having launched in Denver in 2019 and then Phoenix, Chicago and Philadelphia.
“Dallas has been our top market by every metric since we began collecting market data in 2019,” All-City CEO Brandon Spano said in a statement. “The level of talent here is unmatched, and you won’t find a more passionate group of fans for sports coverage anywhere else,” he explained. “We now enter Dallas on a stronger footing than ever, and with such a special group of fans in the DFW area, we are confident this market will set a new standard for local sports coverage in America.”
DLLS local team
Stein, a longtime ESPN announcer and New York Times reporter, will lead a DLLS team that includes talent from Mavs.com, The Athletic, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Dallas Stars and local sports radio stations, ALLCITY reported.
According to sports media website Awful Announcing, DLLS has acquired Dallas Mavericks writer Tim Cato from The Athletic and brought in Bobby Carrara from Mavs.com. They will also feature more Mavericks coverage from Dallas sports radio host Kevin Gray and Cowboys coverage from Jeff Cavanaugh (both formerly of 105.3 The Fan and 97.1 The Freak).
Also covering other local teams and Texas teams
ALLCITY said DLLS will also include weekly coverage of other DFW teams, including the Dallas Wings and TCU Horned Frogs, adding that coverage of the Texas Longhorns will begin soon.
Like ALLCITY’s other urban stations, DLLS aims to fill the void of daily local sports content “left by the decline of traditional radio, the RSN model and other media,” the company said. To achieve this in Dallas, the company will offer customized content for sports fans that combines news, entertainment, locally-driven programming and “local events,” all curated by a team of local experts.
According to ALLCITY, DLLS will be launched with sponsorship support from Sleeper, Gametime Tickets, Shady Rays and Empire Today.
Recently raised $12 million in Series B funding
Last week, ALLCITY announced a Series B funding round led by broadcast media company TEGNA (NYSE: TGNA). According to multiple reports, the Series B raised $12 million, nearly half of the $25 million ALLCITY has reportedly raised to date.
