Adele has been reflecting on her early hits. On August 2nd, she performed hits such as “Hello,” “Set Fire to the Rain” and “Skyfall” in front of a crowd of 75,000 at her residency in Munich, Germany. Speaking to fans in the specially constructed Messe Munich Arena, she also performed the song that “changed her life,” the 21st track from her album, “Someone Like You.”
“I wrote this song at the lowest point in my life,” she told fans in a video. “I wish someone had told me when I was 21 that one day I’d be singing this song.”
Released in 2011, “Someone Like You” is the second single from Adele’s second studio album. The critically acclaimed song rocketed to the top of the charts in the United States and her native United Kingdom, and earned Adele a Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance.
Speaking to The Guardian in 2015, Adele revealed that “Someone Like You” was on the verge of being released as a single, and that the song’s success launched her career overseas. “I felt this excitement, and all of a sudden I had the prospect of breaking through in America,” she told The Guardian. “I had a feeling something was going to happen.”

On the first night of his European tour on Aug. 2, the singer performed his 2008 ballad “Chasing Pavements” for the first time since 2017.
“The reason I don’t sing this song much, and the reason I won’t sing it again after Munich, is because I pronounced the words to it when I was 19,” Adele explained in a video for fans. “I sound like I’m 19, but I’m gonna sing it for you because I love you.”
Adele confirms her engagement
The singer also used the sold-out show to confirm that she’s engaged to Rich Paul after more than three years of dating.
As seen in a video that went viral online, Adele spotted a sign in the crowd on August 9 that read, “Will you marry me?” However, she politely declined the proposal. “Will you marry me? I’m already married, so I can’t marry you,” she said, revealing her engagement ring. “But I’m so so grateful.”
