Dubai [UAE]Gaza, August 20 (ANI/WAM): As the world marks World Humanitarian Day on August 19, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian work by continuing its relief efforts in Gaza.
Through various initiatives under Operation Chivalry III, the UAE has been at the forefront of providing aid to the Palestinian people, reflecting the country’s unwavering commitment to the humanitarian cause.
Over the past 288 days, the UAE has dispatched four relief ships carrying 18,530 tonnes of various relief items, including medical supplies, shelter materials, food, water and clothing. In addition, 257 planes carrying 5,340 tonnes of supplies and 104 convoys carrying 19,819 tonnes of relief supplies have been dispatched to assist displaced persons.
The country has also strengthened Gaza’s medical sector by supporting hospitals and treating the wounded. This includes operating the UAE field hospital in Rafah and the floating hospital in Al-Arish, Egypt, which provides emergency medical care. The operation has delivered 400 tons of medical supplies, including advanced equipment and prosthetic limbs, to hospitals and international organizations.
The UAE’s “Good Bird” program conducted 50 airdrops carrying more than 3,382 tons of essential supplies to inaccessible and isolated areas in northern Gaza.
As part of a broader effort to support infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, the UAE built six desalination plants with a combined capacity of treating 1.2 million gallons of water per day and repaired a key water main in Khan Younis. The UAE also provided water vehicles, sanitation facilities and other essential resources to enable local authorities to meet the needs of displaced populations.
The UAE’s ongoing humanitarian efforts underscore its leading role in global relief efforts, continually providing aid and support to those in need. (ANI/WAM)
