Coach Dan Quinn named rookie Jayden Daniels the Commanders’ starting quarterback during his press conference on Monday. The move wasn’t surprising for a few reasons. First, Daniels is clearly Washington’s best quarterback and he earned his opportunity. Also, Washington didn’t bench Daniels after selecting him second overall.
“You’ve done a great job,” Quinn said of Daniels winning the starting spot. “You’ve earned it.”
Daniels completed 12 of 15 passes for 123 yards in the first two preseason games. He participated in three drives, one of which resulted in a touchdown, one that ended in a field goal and one that ended in a missed field goal. The rookie also performed well in practice sessions with the Jets and Dolphins.
What do you guys think about Quinn making it public?

Dan Quinn called Jayden Daniels a “rare competitor” and said he showed everything they expected from him: “confidence, swagger, detail.”

I’ve received a lot of criticism for how optimistic I was about Jayden Daniels through the two preseason games.
In the long run, I think it’s more likely he’s “the guy.”

The Buccaneers win, but unfortunately, he’ll be attacking the secondary.
