Nikola Jokic and Vasilije Micic teamed up to lead the Serbian national team to a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics, and now they could team up in the NBA.
According to Marc Stein, the Denver Nuggets are interested in acquiring Vasilije Micic from the Charlotte Hornets in a trade. Micic’s contract with the Hornets has him set to earn $7.7 million in 2024-25 with a team option for $8.1 million the following season.
If the Nuggets and Hornets agree to a trade, Micic could end up in Denver alongside his friend and Serbian teammate Jokic.
Denver’s system and Jokic’s presence provide an environment in which Misic could become a valuable asset to a championship-chasing NBA team, as the 30-year-old guard is averaging 10.8 points and 6.2 assists in 30 games since the Hornets acquired him in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Prior to signing with the Thunder in 2023, Micic had emerged as one of the best players outside of the NBA, earning EuroLeague MVP honors in 2021 and Final Four MVP honors in 2021 and 2022 while winning championship titles with Anadolu Efes of Turkey.
