“I’m quite interested in becoming a foster carer,” Will said, “so I’ve got that in mind, because I’ve got a home ready to go,” he said of the house they are currently renovating in rural Wiltshire.
“I think I’m good at being emotionally present and emotionally acknowledging,” he added. “That’s key with children and young people.”
The pop idol star also said he uses dating apps, especially since moving to the countryside. “It’s a bit of a luck thing. My last boyfriend used apps, and the guy I’m dating now uses apps,” he explained.
New album “Light It Up” now on sale
“Light It Up” is Will Young’s first studio EP since 2021’s “Crying on the Bathroom Floor.” He describes the record as a return to his pop roots, saying, “When ‘Light It Up’ came out, I thought, ‘Okay, let’s make a pop record.'” A tour in support of the album is scheduled to begin in September.
When asked about his favorite song on the album, Will replied, “‘Midnight.’ That was fun to write. I thought it was really funny and I’d never written a song like that before.”
“I think it’s a really honest song. I don’t write a lot of autobiographical songs,” he explained.
“It was kind of a new way of writing, but I was really excited about it. So I was like, ‘Oh, I’m writing a song about being a gay man in my 40s and wandering around in my own reflection.’ It was a very honest song.”
