In a statement marking World Humanitarian Day (WHD), observed annually on August 19, Sheikh Tayyab bin Mohammed commended them for their steadfast efforts in supporting humanitarian efforts and helping the most vulnerable, especially children, women, elderly and people of determination.
“Thanks to the steadfastness of our late Founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the great interest and boundless support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, we celebrate the UAE’s incredible humanitarian contributions and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to humanitarian work at the regional and international levels. We also commend the inspiring efforts of humanitarian workers in spreading hope to societies affected by crises,” Sheikh Tayyab bin Mohammed said.
He also underlined the important role the UAE plays in this regard and its continued support for humanitarian efforts through its domestic humanitarian organizations and various relief programs, and its determination to always be at the forefront of countries lending a helping hand in times of crisis and disaster in a world where crises and conflicts are festering and have become part of daily life for many people.
He said the UAE continues to remain supportive and steadfast in providing emergency relief and finding innovative solutions for immediate response, which contribute greatly to reducing the impact of these crises and disasters on those affected.
He stressed the need to pay attention to individuals working on the frontline, such as doctors, nurses, specialists, engineers and different types of aid providers in different humanitarian sectors. In this regard, he added that the International Council of Humanitarian Charities will continue to work with partners to build the capacity of humanitarian actors and aid workers, providing them with the support and skills they need to achieve humanitarian goals more effectively, respond to crises and meet the needs of affected communities more effectively and efficiently.
World Humanitarian Day is a day to honour the courage, dedication and resilience of hundreds of thousands of volunteers and humanitarian workers around the world. In this context, thousands of people affected by crises have benefited from the UAE’s contribution, receiving emergency medical supplies, shelter, food, protection, water and basic services.
The UAE’s efforts focus on communities affected by conflict and natural disasters, strengthening its approach to foster solidarity and spread the values of tolerance and peace.
