John Cena has a huge fanbase, so imagine the excitement of those fans when they logged into X and realized that John Cena was following them. This has happened to many and it’s always heartwarming to see people share their joy on social media after realizing that Cena is following them.
John Cena has around 15 million followers on Twitter and follows around 850,000 people. What’s interesting is that not all of his followers are celebrities, but he also follows a large number of regular fans.
This has led many to wonder why Cena tends to follow a fanbase on social media, especially one with a smaller following. Cena explained his approach to answering the most commonly searched questions on Google to WIRED:
“When the public asks, how to use X in conversation. I believe you can’t just talk to people, you have to talk with them. I don’t just use X for shameless self-promotion. Check out “Jackpot” on Prime Video. I also put out ideas that I think are interesting and that people find interesting. Everything is so polarizing these days, but it’s ideas that people have their own perspectives and views on. I follow everyone I can. I follow over 800,000 people right now. I can only follow 1,000 people a day on X, so I’ll continue to do so. I follow people from all over the place. I don’t care. No one is off limits. Whatever your affiliation, what you believe, I don’t care. Because I want all voices to be heard.”
John Cena is also a big fan of professional wrestling and loves to connect with others. On Twitter, he can curate a timeline of people he thinks are interesting and worth following. They might have something valuable to share. Cena sees something special about them and hits the follow button.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens after John Cena’s retirement. He plans to retire in 2025, with over 30 appearances planned for his farewell tour. Though his time in the ring is coming to an end, to the delight of fans who follow him, he has no plans to leave Twitter.
