Chelsea have been extremely busy this summer transfer window so if you take your eyes off the ball for even a moment you could very well miss something.
The Blues are currently embroiled in some transfer turmoil, with new names popping up in the rumour mill.
One of the evolving topics at Stamford Bridge is the future of midfielder Conor Gallagher, whose transfer to Atletico Madrid fell through this week. Journalist Ben Jacobs reports for X that Atletico have set Wednesday as the deadline for a move for Gallagher.
Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to make player transfers, with Leslie Ugochukwu (loan to Southampton) and Mason Burstow (permanently to Hull City) both leaving the team in the last 24 hours.
Now Enzo Maresca’s side have been linked with a new defensive target.

Chelsea interested in Joe Gomez
According to The Times, Chelsea are one of several clubs interested in signing Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.
The 27-year-old is currently being considered over his Liverpool future after being left out of the squad for Saturday’s Premier League opener against Ipswich Town.
Premier League sides Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Fulham are reportedly interested in signing Gomez.
There’s no doubting the talented player behind the versatile defender, who can play at centre-back or full-back, and he was included in England’s squad for Euro 2024 this summer but did not feature.
Gomez has had a highly successful career at Anfield, winning the Champions League once and the Premier League once.
Speaking to beIN SPORTS last season, former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp described Gomez’s individual performances as “incredible”.
Should Chelsea sign Joe Gomez?
Gomez is clearly a strong defender who is fit to play at the top level, but Chelsea would be better off staying out of this deal.
The Blues are already well-equipped with defenders across their backline and adding another player to an already bloated squad would make little sense, so hopefully the club’s scouts will consider their current options before expressing an interest.
Even if Chelsea decide Gomez is a good fit for their team, he is a player whose Liverpool career has been frequently interrupted by injuries.
